BIO
I am a working artist, illustrator and designer living in New York, New York. Originally from Oakland, California. My artistic vision reaches across genres in painting, drawing, illustration, graphic design, sculpture, installation, and even performance. Although I am most recognized for charcoal drawing. I have a particular interest in realism and all things noir which tend to influence the work. I was taught in old masters techniques that translates even in more modern works. I am also influenced by many years of involvement in the bay area figure drawing movement.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am compelled by the intensity of the moonlight. Through rendering darkness, I find subversive fragments of light. In the shadows, I find perfect pleasure that leaves me unsatisfied. In a haze of gray, I am nostalgic for the past and for a moment to escape the harshness of modern realities. In resurrecting master techniques and period movements, I preserve notions of classicism. Iconic ideals of sexuality and expressions of bold beauty are guides in my romantic perception of the world. The mood is erotic, strong and unrepressed. I am guided by the grace of the exquisite. I am inspired to evoke a renaissance of passionate and courageous individuals who revel in the ceaseless pursuit of a dream.
